Not coloured jeans

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 6 months you’re sure to be aware that the biggest trend of right now is coloured jeans. In fact, you probably have a pair or two sitting in your wardrobe.

The problem with coloured jeans (and patterned, for that matter) is that they won’t be around forever and while denim is long lasting, trends sadly are not. So while I dearly love my collection of coloured jeans (three pairs at last count) and plan on wearing them for many months to come, for now, no more, enough is enough!

top /Gap/ pants/ H & M/ belt & necklace / New Look/ shoes / birkenstocks

So today, I’m not wearing coloured jeans. The weather in the US at the moment is warm and after a year of inclement UK weather (i.e. rain, rain and some more rain) my summer wardrobe stapes are sadly lacking. You all know how much I hate baring my legs, so on a recent shopping trip I went in search of some non-denim pants to see me through the summer months. I found these gems at H&M. They are lightweight, cornflower blue, almost like chinos but straighter through the legs (most ‘chino’ style pants are tapered at the ankles which do nothing for a pear shape!). I’ve rolled the cuffs close to my ankle to lengthen my legs.

Practical, comfortable and a lovely colour, I hope these pants continue to be favourites
long after my coloured jeans have been sent to the charity shop in post trend shame.

Confession time, do you have a coloured jean addiction?

  1. my coloured jean addiction is settling in. i want another pair. i now have blue and rusty reddish colour. i'm considering the bright pink ones from Katies that I tried on...aaaah! I love those blue pants. It's almost getting too hot here for jeans so maybe I'll look at some chino-capri type pants too.

  2. I so far hadn't had a coloured jean addiction, but I have a coated denim/resin denim addiction. I wear them all the time and am currently looking at an awesome Maroon pair from Aus store Just Jeans. My next purchase though will be a khaki coloured soft jean, with patches on the knee... ahhh and here the madness comes! :)

    1. Oh I love those coated ones, Zara did some great ones. I'm slightly too scared to get them though, I have huge thighs and making them slighty shiny surely isn't smart ;-)

I have some 'skinny cargos' from Gap which are khaki and I love (even though bought them over a year ago now)

  3. I just got a catalog in mail from JAG - with my favourite colour - chartreuse - jeans - but a bit expensive for me for a passing fad. I will see if Kmart does chartreuse or something like it in their $15 jeans, that's a better price for me! Then maybe I should look into some lighter pants instead since it is already feeling too warm for jeans in the daytime. BTW this post doesn't seem to be up on Facebook yet??

    1. Yes, they seem to be in all the cheaper stores here in all sorts of colours, Target has some (in a lovely soft denim) for $20.. I have been eyeing up a printed pair, but they have 'short term trend' written all over them ;-)

  4. I confess, I am a coloured jeans addict. To date, blue, green-ish kinda colour, watermelon red, karki ... does black count? What about white? Have them all :) That along with my dozen or more pair of just plain jeans - skinny, boot etc. I can't help myself. Disgusting. But everyone has to have an addiction ... right? Mine is jeans. And now with the colour trend in, it has just doubled my addiction. Frankly, I must have this trend hang around for a while because 1) I am enjoying it and 2) I need to get value out of them!

Thanks for the post and once again reminding me about my ... err ... wardrobe problems I have :/

  5. We are not counting black, grey, white! In fact one of my pairs is blue (but not denim) and I was wondering if I had to count them (I did!). I am a 'Gap' jean addict, I bought 6 pairs here with me from the UK for just 3 months and the other day I was in Gap and was so overwhelmed with choice in the end I walked out empty handed.. but I will be going back! So rest assured 'My name is Belinda and I am a jeans addict' ;-)

  6. I too am a jeans addict. I have several pairs of my love for the past year - Uniqlo jeans in different styles & colours. I was a tad excited finding a red & a sky blue pair when I was visiting you in June. So far though I haven't worn the red ones - its still very wintery & cold in Melbourne so I've been sticking to my trusty darker colours in the legs but brighter tops. But spring is around the corner & the red jeans will make their debut & I'm sure the blue ones will come out more & more. I also have a bright pink pair I picked up at Kmart before I left - they're lighter material so perfect for the warmer days x
