Mellow Yellow

I’m a people watcher, quite obsessively in fact. I’ll watch anyone, for any reason but my favourite thing to watch (of course) is what everyone is wearing. When we were at the Crab Festival the other week I spotted a lady wearing blue and yellow and thought she looked fab. While I have tonnes of blue in my wardrobe, yellow was in short supply so when I spotted this scarf the other day I snapped it up.

scarf/ Old Navy / top & jeans / Gap / shoes/ birkenstocks

It got me thinking about colour. Yellow is always associated with sunshine and happiness and rightly so, it’s hard to be sad when you’re wearing such a vibrant shade. Popular opinion would have us believe red, on the other hand is exciting and raunchy, grey; business-like and black is sophisticated and sombre. Pink is girlie, blue is calm, brown is homely and purple, like red is a little sexy.

So over to you, do you think colours (and there wearers) take on these traits? For me,  wearing yellow is certainly a mood booster, as for the rest, I have to say, the jury is still out..

  1. Wow that yellow looks wonderful on you! I have to agree it certainly makes you look full of sunshine and happiness. I think the brighter I'm feeling the more colourful the outfit I will choose. I tend to reach for my darker clothes when feeling a little lazy and flat. So I think there is certainly some truth in colours & how they make you feel. I know the same is said for when you're painting the interior of a building, there are particular colours you should choose for the "feel/mood" you'd like to promote.

    1. I guess it's more important with interiors as you have to live with it everyday, whereas with clothes, you can choose something different each day :-)

    1. I don't think I could/should wear orange (it just doesn't suit me) but I'm thinking maybe a bag might be good. I'm liking Navy & Orange together :-)

  4. I love the yellow with the navy, looks great and very spring - amazing how a simple scarf can lift an outfit!
I agree with Megan (again) - I find the choices I make when I open the wardrobe often reflect how I feel inside - sometimes its good to choose more uplifting colours even though you don't feel bright as it might help feel lighter as the day goes by.

    1. Very true.. I think that's why holiday packing can sometimes be tricky as you don't get to 'read your mood' when you look in the wardrobe, you just have to go with what you have in your suitcase(or go shopping..haha)
